Located in the Tajo’s valley, Sacedón is waiting for us to spend some unforgettable days in the head of the nature. If you go for a walk in the town, you will find majestic aristocratic houses, even if its architecture is especially remarkable in religious buildings, as the Monastery of Monsalud: it is said that the temple was built in the visigothic period, but nowadays you will be able to visit also the tombs of two knights of the Order of Calatrava.

Thanks to its closeness to Cuenca, both places share special corners that we would not leave.  The Faces Route (Ruta de las Caras) is a good example of mixture between nature and sculpture in a short route in the area of the Buendía Swamp. With an open and free access, we can take a walk among 18 sculptures and bas-reliefs of 1 to 8 meters high carved in the nature. This zone is the perfect environment for the practice of hiking with children, because of its flat lands that do not imply any difficulty.  In addition to this route, in the area around the Buendía Swamp you will find beautiful landscapes as the one where the river Guadiela flows, or you could even visit the ruins of and old visigothic town.

One hour away of Sacedón, you could also visit the remains of the ancient Roman city of Segóbriga, there we can find one of the better conserved amphitheatre of the peninsula. Another option is to go to the Natural Park of Alto-Tajo, only 35 minutes far from Sacedón. There we could have a walk in one of the most extended canyon and gorges system, considered  one of the most important of Europe because its excellent state of preservation.
