It is extremely necessary do disconnect form the routine once in a while. An option for changing our day-a-day is to visit a city like Madrid, a place that never sleeps ans where you would always find new corners.

After a shopping day, near the Gran Vía you can find the Puerta del Sol, protagonist of the New Year’s eve clock struck in all the TV channels. At the Kilometer Zero, you could visit the symbol of the city: the statue of the bear and the strawberry-tree (El oso y el madroño). Only a few steps far from here, is located the well known Plaza Mayor, a places for summer concerts and where a little market of stamps and coins takes place each Sunday. Do you want a snack? In the San Miguel Market, you will find a rich gastronomic sample, where it is possible to degust an octopus a feira while having a cocktail.

Only a few meters away are the Isabel IInd Place, and the Royal Theater, characterized by its coffin form. Then in front of the Royal Palace, you could have a walk in the Sabatini’s Garden that will transport you until the time when great kings lived in the palace.  Just next to the palace, is the Almudena Cathedral, a modern church in the center of the city. By walking only a few more steps, you can find the remains of a medieval wall that surrounded the city.

If your visit takes place on a public holiday or on Sunday, you cannot miss the Rastro! The more pure market of Madrid that offers a wide range of products, especially if you visit the streets specialized in painting or antique books.

To end the day, you could see a perfect sunset from the Temple of Debod, an Egyptian temple offered by this country to Spain, able to the visit for free. You can also take pleasure in the sunset from the flagship Retiro Park, and its artificial pond.  Last but not least, if you want to chill out with an unbeatable view, you can go up to the terrace roofs of the Palacio de Bellas Artes or the Palacio de las Comunicaciones and have a wonderful view of the Gran Vía and the statue of goddess Cybele.
