Falling in love with Cáceres

Surrounded by ochre valleys, Hervás has delighted each one of its visitors; but in winter you can also enjoy this beautiful region of Cáceres. Lights, carols and snow have inundated its streets. Are you going to miss it?

This incredible enclave declared as Historic-Artistic Site, has taken care of each detail of its wonderful Jewish quarter, since the XV century until today. Walking down the winding streets, you will find that the trace let by these people is still alive.  We cannot be delighted by the Castle-Chuch of Santa María de Aguas Vivas, a defensive bastion of an ancient Templar fortress of the XI century in Segura de Toro. Nowadays it still has the tower and the medieval walls; from there we can have stunning views from the town.

While eating Christmas baking and enjoying snow and carols, we can have a walk through the mud-brick and chestnut wood houses, along the labyrinthine streets. These narrow streets have a cobblestone pavement with stones from the River Ambroz, as Hervás is located in the Ambroz valley, considered as the second most beautiful autumnal scenery only surpassed by it neighbor the Jerte’s valley.

It’s undeniable that Cáceres has a nature that will take our breath away. Some time ago, we talked about the valley where are the Gargantas del Infierno, at this place with the rising of temperatures we recommended you to take a bath. However now in winter, you can have a walk in its impressive chesnut forest, which covers most of the Laderas de Tras la Sierra.

Don’t stay at home when you could be in a bungalow!
