The Costa Blanca (white coast) has a well-deserved reputation of being the paradise for watersports fanatics and sun seekers alike. Its sandy beaches, warm waters and Mediterranean climate all contributes to its popularity. It has 200 km of coastline and boats 300 days of sunshine a year.
Moraira
The beach El Portet is also a small beach with its 350 m long. It is surrounded by mountains so its water is a little bit cooler than the other beaches, but its clear water are ideal for swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking. The location has an upmarket feel, and it is known as the Caribbean of the Marina Alta. You will find traditional beach bars serving food and drinks along the beach.
Altea
The Playa de la Roda is 1,400 long with pebbles, gravels and some sandy patches. This makes it less popular with tourists, but it is still very pleasant with its palm trees and typical bars and restaurants a short walk away. It is also great for windsurfing with its small waves. You can hire deck chairs and umbrellas to make your stay at the beach more comfortable.
Benidorm
Benidorm has always been a popular seaside resort, even before the UK TV series. It used to be a tiny fishing village in the 60’s, with 2 main beaches, the Playa Levante and the Playa Poniente. It is now one of the most visited resort in Spain. Benidorm is well-known for its nightlife, bars, restaurants and skyscrapers along the beach. The beaches have great facilities and the popular sports are water-skiing, jet-skiing, paddle surfing, scuba-diving and water-paragliding.
Dénia
Dénia is located halfway between Alicante and Valencia. It has 20 km of sandy beaches and rocky coves. It is a family friendly resort with great facilities, including a marina with 546 moorings. The beach Les Deveses is ideal for windsurfing and sailing. Les Marines, L’Almadrava, and Les Bovetes are ideal for children with white sand and shallow waters. For a spot of fishing and diving, head to the rocky coast in the South and try Les Rotes.
Javea (also known as Xábia)
Javea and its main beach La Granadella, is very scenic with a background of pine trees. It is also a very popular with the locals, and fairly low-key. The beach is ideal for scuba –diving with its clear waters, and has a sailing club offering various watersports activities. There is a protected swimming area which makes it very safe for children and young families. There are 2 other beaches that can only be accessed by foot: La Caleta and La Sardinera, should you want a quieter spot. La Granadella has a few restaurant with a good choice of menus.
Calpe
La Playa El Fosca is an iconic beach with its 332 m high rock, the Penon de Ifach. It is bustling with nice restaurants and bars along the beach front. The promenade leading to the beach has benches where you can sit and people-watch. The beach is very clean and safe and great for families.
Alicante
San Juan de Alicante is a 7 km long beach of fine sand and it has a 6 km promenade where you can enjoy a nice stroll with great trendy shops and restaurants. Due to its length, you will always find a nice spot, even when the beach is packed. It is a clean and safe beach, also great for families. Facilities include a beach volley ball net and a tram connection from the city centre to get to the beach. There is a 18 holes golf course nearby.
Benitachell
The beach Cala Del Moraig is a remote, picturesque beach with pebbles and nested among the cliffs. The access is a little bit tricky with a steep road but the view is stunning. There is an ocean cave to visit and it is a paradise for scuba diving and snorkeling. The beach is only 500m long and there is a nudist area at the far end.
